At Canify, we love a technical challenge, especially when it comes from a brand as thoughtful and uncompromising as Botivo.

Sam and the team had a clear brief:

Take their signature serve (Botivo, soda, and a wedge of orange) and turn it into a ready-to-drink can. No flavourings. No preservatives. No shortcuts.

The challenge? Botivo’s flavour is built entirely from slow-steeped botanicals and natural extractions. It’s complex, bitter, bold and full of character. But translating that into a stable, shelf-ready product? Much easier said than done..

To make it work, we needed to:

➡️ Match the flavour and balance of the original serve

➡️ Maintain a clean label (no added flavourings or stabilisers)

➡️ Achieve a 12-month shelf life in can

➡️ Stay within strict pH limits for food safety and stability

What we did:

This wasn’t a simple plug-and-play production job. It required deep thinking, technical development, and a lot of iterative testing.

We created a custom ingredient extraction process that allowed the soda element to carry and elevate Botivo’s botanical complexity, without flattening the flavour or compromising the clean-label promise.

We also worked closely with the Botivo team to fine-tune their production approach, helping improve ingredient consistency, batch stability, and flavour control. The learnings here didn’t just benefit the canned version, they fed back into the core aperitif itself.

The result?

✅ No added flavourings or preservatives

✅ 12-month shelf life, naturally stable

✅ Better control over flavour extraction and consistency

✅ A true, faithful expression of the original serve and now in a can.
